Dennis
W.Brady Sr.
(original member)
Musical Director,
Guitarist, Bass, Baritone Vocals, Dennis is the only surviving
original member of "The Zionaires", which started in 1954.
Dennis sang and has played the guitar for this group for 50 years.
He is the baritone singer, and does all the bass lead singing. He is
a retired receiving clerk, but works part-time at the MAC Senior Center.
Dennis resides in Princess Anne, MD where he is a member of MT. Hope AME
Zion Church.
O. Wendell Brooks
Manager, first tenor, lead
vocals - Wendell began singing with "The Zionaires"
in 1967, sang for four years, took four years off, and returned to the
group. He has been with the group for 37 years. Wendell
manages the group, sings tenor and occasionally sings lead. He
resides in Princess Anne, Maryland, is a member of Trinity UM
Community Worship Center in Princess Anne where he is a member
of the Building Committee. Wendell
also is a member of another gospel group, "The Princess Anne Charge
Methodist Men". He is also
affiliated with New Psalmist Non Denominational Church,
Westover, MD.
He is a retired
decorator consultant, works
part-time at "Anthony Wards Funeral Home" a private
limousine driver, and is a member of The Zoning Appeals
Board in the town of Princess Anne.
Allen O. (Jasper)
Handy Jr.
Alan O. "Jasper" Handy, Bass
Guitarist, Drummer, Lead and Background Vocals Jasper was
in High School when he started with the group as the bass
player. He is the nephew of one of the original members (Hilton
Johnson). Later he became one of the lead and background
singers. Jasper resides in Glen Burnie, Maryland. He joined
Pennsylvania Ave AME Zion Church, in Baltimore, MD,
(Dec 06.) In addition to The Zionaires,
Jasper is a member of The New Dynamic Traveleers of Severna
Park, MD and Remnants of God of Annapolis, MD. He
works with Larry Goodwin and The Divine Sheppards, and
The Richardson Family both of Glen Burnie, MD, and has
played for The Silver Tones of Annapolis, MD.
Gregory Handy
Keyboard player -
Greg began with "The Zionaires" in the late eighties as a
keyboard player. He is also a nephew of the original member (Hilton
Johnson) and brother of Jasper Handy. Greg resides in Princess
Anne, Maryland, and is a member of Mt. Hope AME
Zion Church in Princess Anne, MD.
Phillip Sterling
Bass guitarist, keyboard
player, drummer, Phil joined "The Zionaires" in
1986, while he was employed as the Band Director at Washington Senior high school. He began as the
drummer, and then began playing the keyboard.
Phil resides in
Waterbury, Connecticut, where he is a Connecticut certified music
teacher, conductor, and private instructor. He joins "The Zionaires"
when they appear in states north of Delaware.
Kevin Phillips-Taylor
Kevin started playing drums for "The Zionaires"
when he was 6 years old. A principle roll 2nd grade student at
Greenwood Elementary School, and member of Mt Hope Echoes of Mt
Hope AME Zion Church, both of Princess Anne, MD. Kevin resides
in Princess Anne, MD and he is the son of Terrell Taylor.
